Now that I'm thinking about, I may have disabled the "allow simultaneous operation of pen and touch for WACOM  devices", leaving the other "allow simultaneous operation of pen and touch"... I will check as soon as I'm home

By "it is not intuitive like how a typical keyboard would work" what do you mean exactly?
